- Lutetium is a rare-earth, Group-IIB transition metal. It is the final
- rare-earth metal on the periodic chart and it marks the end of the
- lantanide series of elements.
- Lutetium is also the hardest and heaviest of the rare earths. It has a
- silvery-white color and is fairly stable under normal atmospheric
- conditions.
